Internal Tooth Whitening brightens teeth from the inside out. Whitening the tooth internally involves Root canal treatment, and placing a peroxide gel into the pulp chamber so that the gel can work straight inside the tooth on the dentin layer. In this variation of whitening the peroxide is sealed within the tooth over a period of some days and replaced as and when needed. This technique of Tooth Whitening is also known as "Walking Bleach Technique".

How Tooth Whitening is done?

In-office Tooth Whitening systems a gel made with a 35% solution of hydrogen peroxide is used. The hydrogen peroxide gel is much stronger than the carbamide peroxide solutions used in take-home systems. It must be applied by the dentist only, if not done properly it can cause potential harm to other oral tissues surrounding the teeth. These strong hydrogen peroxide solutions offer very efficient tooth whitening in about two hours on their own, however, most dentists speed up the process by using a heat or light source to liberate more oxygen from the gel faster than would happen without the light or heat source.
